HOW IT WORKS?

Once you have completed your training to become an Appropriate Adult your name will be added to the SAAVS electronic roster which is managed by staff in the SAAVS office and linked directly to each of the three custody suites in Surrey. The roster is real-time and provides up the minute and accurate information to the Police. You will be offered a slot of approximately 6 – 8 hours on the roster which you will own and during that time you will be responsible for attending calls to custody. It will be your responsibility to inform the office if for any reason you are unable to cover your allocated duty.

All volunteer Appropriate Adults are subject to a probationary period of six months. However ongoing support is provided at all times through the office and team representatives, at quarterly team meetings and the annual refresher training day.
